My Most Played Tracks of 2012

I think it’s too early for me to create my Year-End Track list, but Billboard already revealed their Top Lists, so I guess it’s about time to blurt out my list as well. Since January, I managed to track down the number of plays of all the tracks that released this year. Using my iTunes Player, here’s My Most Played Tracks of 2012.

“Starships” was indeed one of the biggest hits of 2012. Following the success with “Superbass”, the song still has the elements of her previous hit.

Title:     Anything Could Happen

Artist:     Ellie Goulding

Album: Halcyon

Title:     Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)

Artist:     Kelly Clarkson

Album: Stronger

One of the female musicians with strongest vocals in the industry is Kelly Clarkson. This self-empowering track rocked the charts at the top spot and I am not surprised why.

Title:     Part Of Me

Artist:     Katy Perry

Album: Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection

Released: February 13, 2012

Number of Plays: 50

“Part of Me” was a commercial success. It was the twentieth song to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, Perry’s seventh number-one single on the chart, and her ninth consecutive number-one single on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. The TEENAGE DREAM Era is indeed a dream come true.

TOP 5

Title:     Skyfall

Artist:     Adele

Album: OST: Skyfall

Released: October 5, 2012

Number of Plays: 50

Adele had a glorious 2011 after bagging tons of awards, chart topping hits, and a top grossing album. This year, she chants with an excellent track for a James Bond Film, “Skyfall“.

TOP 4

Title:     Girl Gone Wild

Artist:     Madonna

Album: MDNA

Released: March 2, 2012

Number of Plays: 64

I was not really a big fan of Madonna, until her 2012 LP came out. Her latest album, “MDNA” was really a masterpiece! Although, the track’s official video and song content was too raunchy, I still love the song’s beat, and harmony. Disappointed that it never went to the Top Spot on Hot 100, but it was one of the hottest dance/club tracks that was released this year.

TOP 3

Title:     Lights

Artist:     Ellie Goulding

Album: Lights (UK), Bright Lights (USA/Worldwide), Halcyon

Released: March 13, 2011

Number of Plays: 93

“Lights” was a sleeper hit, spending one year and three months on the Billboard Hot 100 before finally reaching number two on the chart in August 2012, after being released in 2011.

TOP 2

Title:     Set Fire To The Rain

Artist:     Adele

Album: 21

Released: July 4, 2011

Number of Plays: 143

Released in 2011, the track finally reached the top spot of Billboard Top 100 on February 4, 2012. The song was used in various TV shows, including CBS’ defunct show, “Ringer” starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.

TOP 1

Title:     Love You Like A Love Song

Artist:     Selena Gomez & The Scene

Album: When The Sun Goes Down

Released: June 17, 2011

Number of Plays: 166

Another sleeper hit made its way to the mainstream charts, as Selena Gomez’ “Love You Like A Song” became her biggest hit since “Naturally“. “Love You like a Love Song” got its second wind after November 26, 2011, as it continued rising from the fiftieth position up until March 3, 2012, when it reached a peak of number 22, surpassing the peak made in July 2011. At the end of that month, the song surpassed sales of two million units, becoming her first single to achieve this sales and her highest selling single in the United States. The song also earned the band their second highest charting single, behind “Who Says“, and the longest running single on the Hot 100 at 38 weeks. The song also earned the band the first album to spawn two top thirty hits. On April 20, 2012, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified the single double platinum.

Biting Christina Aguilera’s new Music Video, “Your Body”

Colorful.

It is the first word if I were to describe Christina Aguilera’s new music video, “Your Body“. Though, she already mentioned that it was indeed colorful when she was interviewed and talked about her latest music video, but I never thought   it would be that artistic, sadistic yet in a colorful way.

THE VIDEO

I honestly hoped and imagined that the music video would include some dance routines, with back-up dancers, and dancing to some sick choreography. Yeah, sure. Cause it’s pop, right? But I tend to forget that it’s Christina Aguilera. She is also one of the artists, who would push the boundaries of music videos. Like “Fighter“, “Dirrty“, and “Not Myself Tonight“. But no! This one’s very artistic.

Directed by Melina Matsoukas, whose works are Lady Gaga’s ‘Just Dance‘, Rihanna’s ‘S&M‘ and ‘We Found Love‘ and more.  The storyline includes Christina Aguilera in a killing spree for easy-to-get guys (sounds like a ‘Telephone‘  sequel). Exploding cars with a neon pink fire, murdering a guy with blue blood splattered all over the men’s restroom, and hitting a guy’s head with red confetti splattering instead of blood are few of the things that you would notice. I never thought I would see a violent clip in a very artistic and colorful way.

Relating the music video storyline to the song’s content? It’s a half-half. Coz killing could be the host’s hidden agenda on why she “wanted” his body. Though I don’t want to compare the video to others but the killing spree does kinda remind me of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” and “Telephone” series, and the character changes seems like Christina’s colorful yet sassy version of Britney’s “Toxic” and “Womanizer”.

All in all, I enjoyed the video. It’s fun, it’s cool, and it’s got Christina Aguilera. What do you think? Check out the official video!

Happy 4th Birthday, WOMANIZER!

Womanizer Cover Art

4 years Ago, a track was released from a famous pop singer and became a commercial success as it reached the top spot in US, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, and many more to mention, thus regaining this singer’s crown as “Princess Of Pop”. This popstar is Britney Spears.

In the United States, “Womanizer” was her first single to reach number-one since “…Baby One More Time” in 1999. It is also her best-selling digital song in the country, having sold over 3.2 million copies, and over 6 million copies around the globe, making it one of the best-selling singles worldwide.

A censored version of the music video premiered on October 10, 2008 on ABC’s 20/20 at the end of their show. The uncensored version premiered on MTV the same night.

Celebrate WOMANIZER’s 4th year from its release by pumping up your speakers with the track’s repetitive and addictive hook!

Biting GLEE S4 Ep2: Britney 2.0

GLEE’s at it again! “Britney 2.0″ was one of the most anticipated episodes of the series. The first Britney-dedicated episode raked a lot of numbers for rating’s sake, even though the storyline was kinda weak enough for the said series. This season, they’re having another Britney-dedicated episode and this time, with better storyline. It gained a lot of negativities in the social media as the episode covers Britney’s downfall. With that said, it would mean Brit’s shaving off her hair, beating with an umbrella and the lip-syncing on VMA. Most Britney Fans tweeted about it and find it offensive, but for me, it’s not.

THE EPISODE

The episode focuses on the show’s character, Brittany S. Pierce, and not Britney Spears’ Music or even her works. Her downfall was heavily compared to Britney’s meltdown, which I think was appropriate and relevant enough for Brittany’s storyline. From her head-shaving (although that didn’t eventually happened), to beating with an umbrella, to lousy performances (with similarities with Britney’s Gimme More performance), it was all well plotted and well-fitted for Brittany’s depression for being cut off from her cheering squad, The Cheerios.

To all Britney fans saying that this episode was being disrespectful to Britney, I do hope when u watched the episode, you fully understand the SHOW. That you fully understand that the storyline was about “Brittany S. Pierce”, and not the music and works of “Britney Spears”. Yes, Brittany’s meltdown was heavily similar to Britney’s downfall but it was good enough to support the character’s story. The moral of the story was despite of all the negative things, you can always make a GREAT comeback, and I guess that was fully explained with Brittany and Sam’s scene. I believe they did NOT make fun of Britney’s ‘Blackout’ days. This episode got heavier storyline than Season 2′s “Britney/Brittany”. Again, this one’s about “BRITTANY” and NOT about “BRITNEY”.

SONGS

Now about their songs, most of them are good. Heather Morris’ “Hold It Against Me” was more upbeat than the original, which is good, but with “Gimme More”, not so. There really are tracks that only Britney Spears can nail it, and “Gimme More” was one of them, (and I’m A Slave 4 U). Lea Michelle overkilled “Oops! I Did It Again” in a good way. It was a fresh and unique version of a Britney classic.

Mash-Ups are made too. First was “Boys/Boyfriend”, which I would rate 3 out of 5. Good vocals but mashing it up with Justin Bieber’s Boyfriend is not a good idea at all. And there’s “(You Drive Me) Crazy/ Crazy”, a mashup of Britney and Aerosmith’s. At first it was annoying but it’s the type of tune that would stick in your head for a while. The next thing you know you’re singing “You Know I’m Crazy, Crazy, Crazy for U Baby.”

“Womanizer”, and “3″ was good. Good vocals, good arrangement and all. But Marley’s “Everytime” was a so-so. If you’re just listening to the song, it is kinda boring but when it got played in the episode and showed some few scenes of the show’s characters, it was good and relevant for the storyline.

My verdict on “Britney 2.0″, as Britney Spears would say it “Holy Cow, Yes!”

Biting This Year’s VMA’s

I am still disappointed on how MTV had their mediocre tribute to MTV Video Vanguard Winner, Britney Spears. I can still remember how Adele and Beyonce graced last year’s VMA Stage. In a blink of an eye, here comes this year’s VMA’s. It’s the time of the year where MTV cared about music, when it should’ve been about music 24/7.

I really hate comparing, but when it comes to Award Shows, you can’t help but to compare if this year’s show is way better than last year’s. That, I can say yes. Not ‘Yes’ with a huge difference, but let just say around 3.9 stars out of 5.

Rihanna opened the show with “Cockiness“, a track from her recent album. A snippet of “We Found Love” followed suit as she moved to the second stage on where Calvin Harris was, who the night’s DJ was. It was fun to watch, and it was better than Jo Calderone’s (Lady Gaga’s Male Alter Ego) VMA Opening last year.

Kevin Hart soon entered as the show’s host. Surprisingly, I found myself laughing with his punch lines and short skits throughout the show. I prefer him to host the show, than Russell Brand.

The show’s show stopping number you ask? I think One Direction owned the night. I got excited when they performed. Good thing I was able to control myself from “Fangirling”.

My eyes grew wide open as soon as I heard the hook from today’s famous track, “Gangnam Style“. Psy ascended to the stage with Kevin for his brief appearance while doing his ever popular “Gangnam Style” dance routine. I was expecting him to formally close the show, but it all got shot down to flames.

Emma Watson made a brief appearance as well. She looks absolutely stunning, grinning after greeting the audience with her British-accented ‘hello’ as “Hallohw.”

The cast of Twilight also made an appearance for the special preview of their film’s Finale. It now felt awkward seeing Kristin being romantic with Robert in their short preview, when they’re having a huge conflict in real life.

I was also surprised to see Selena Gomez being nominated for Best Female Video, but eventually lost to Nicki Minaj’
Starships.

All of this year’s winners deserve their moonman. Even though there were no Gaga nor Britney nor Madonna, gracing the night for ratings sake, it was still somehow good. Far better than last year.

Christina Aguilera’s New Track Surfaces The Web

Spreading more than a wildfire is this track from the Sensational Diva, Christina Aguilera. The demo version of her new track “Your Body” surfaces the web and is now being played and even became a Worldwide Trending Topic on Twitter. “Your Body” was co-written by Max Martin, whose works became noted for The Backstreet Boys, N’SYNC, Britney Spears and many to mention. The track is composed of modern beats and synths, and her undeniably good vocals. But despite of it being just a demo version, it still slays.

And from a die-hard Britney Fan like me, I could say that this is one hot track and could be one of the biggest hits for Christina Aguilera’s entire career. Is it better than her ‘Bionic’ tracks? I would answer that with a big YES, but it would be better if you’ll check out the link below, or her photo above, and tell me your thoughts…

“Believing” Justin Bieber and Britney Spears

Justin Bieber and Britney Spears “Believe”

In the hype of Justin Bieber’s “Believe” album, Britney Spears ”believe”-ed as well…….thru fragrances. Britney Spears Believe celebrates its 5th year this coming September 24th, which was once controversial because of its logo, which was utterly similar to a t-shirt campaign organized by the Vancouver-based for-profit/charity hybrid, “Mondonation“. The fragrance was said to be sensual and warm, delicate and feminine.

Who among the Britney Army, or perfume collectors, have “Believe” in their dressers, or in their boudoir? Is it worth the price? Share us your thoughts.
